European Urban Landscape Partnership
The European Urban Landscape Partnership has the goal of promoting the planning and management of the urban landscape which is a key element in an integrated strategy for the conservation and development of the urban environment.
It will operate by facilitating communication
and cooperation between all interested
parties. T he innovative collaboration of
municipal authorities, university departments
and other stakeholders in the urban landscape
will also provide important new impulses
and synergy effects in pursuing this goal. T he
resources of universities, including student
projects, masters’ theses, dissertations and
research programmes, will provide a key contribution
to the Partnership in that they can be
made available to city authorities in an international
context to help tackle urban landscape
issues. At the same time impulses from practice will flow back into teaching and research. Because the initiation of the European urban Landscape Partnership is taking place within the context of the LE:NOT RE T hematic Network Project, it is possible to build directly on the foundations created by its more than one hundred member universities, and to make use of much of the structure of the project website which has so far been developed. In this way the LE:NOT RE thematic Network Project provides a stable foundation for the establishment of the European U rban Landscape Partnership. term benefit of the 80% of Europe's citizens who live and work in its urban landscapes.
